BES VIRTUAL STUDENT GUIDELINES 2020-2021
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE VIRTUAL LEARNER and PARENT
ENROLLMENT AND ATTENDANCE
Make certain the school has updated and accurate contact information. Email your child’s teacher and rhonda.mengis@bsd-lions.net or call 501-865-3616.
The School day is from 7:50-3:15 every day
Check in no later than 7:55 each morning. Tardies will be recorded. See Handbook section on Tardy policy.
Be ON TIME to all Live sessions and/or all Google Meet sessions.
Attend all assigned classes every day.
If the internet is down, let the office and email Ms. Mengis by 8:30.
Inform the school by 8:30 am on school days your child will not be able to attend school by doing all of the following:
Emailing the teacher & Ms. Mengis, rhonda.mengis@bsd-lions.net , and
Call the office before 8:30 am
Scan and email the doctor’s excuse to the rhonda.mengis@bsd-lions.net
ATTENDANCE Policy will be enforced.
Follow the daily schedule provided to you.
Daily attendance is taken during scheduled time(s) and connected to daily student progress, participation & engagement.
A student will be counted absent if the student does not have documented engagement.
Truancy laws will apply to students who fail to attend school as required (see Handbook for truancy & absentee policy guidelines)
If a student is absent and has not contacted the school as requested above, a meeting will be requested with parents and the student to create an individualized plan to ensure student success.
INSTRUCTION AND ASSIGNMENTS
There will be instruction in all subjects daily.
All live Google Meets sessions must be attended. Sign in on time.
All recorded sessions must be viewed before the end of each school day at 3:15.
All assignments are due by 8:00 a.m. the morning following the assignment date unless otherwise noted by the teacher.
Submit all assignments on time.
Send an email to your teacher every day letting them know your successes and your needs.
If no completed assignments are submitted, parents will receive a phone call.
Students not completing assignments on time will result in parents being invited to the school to discuss with Ms. H.
BEHAVIOR
Participate in discussions.
Appropriate behavior is important and required during live sessions/Google Meets. Handbook rules will be enforced.
Student dress is required to meet the school dress code while in a visual setting such as a Zoom session or Google Meet. Ex. No pajamas.
If a student’s behavior becomes a distraction, parents will be required to come to the school and meet with Ms. H, Principal.
NEED HELP?
Between the hours of 7:35 - 3:30, students who have questions or need assistance with assignments or instruction should email Ms. Mengis and the teacher during the school day.
Between the hours of 7:35-3:30, students who have technology questions will email Ms. Wright, leah.wright@bsd-lions.net.
The teacher’s official workday is 7:35 - 3:30. Please only use those hours to contact them. Their home and family time is very important and it is requested that you do not contact them after hours.
Any emails received during the day by 1:30 will be resolved before the end of that day. Emails that are received after 1:30 will be resolved the following day.
